Project Overview
Micro-precision machining for medical surgical tools. These parts are used in robotic surgery systems and require absolute sterility and biocompatibility.
Challenge
The surface finish had to be Ra 0.2 or better to prevent bacterial adhesion, with absolutely no burrs allowed under 20x magnification. Machining 316L stainless steel to this level of finish is time-consuming and technically demanding.
Our Solution
We used low-feed finishing passes to achieve superior surface quality directly from the machine. Post-processing included thermal deburring followed by electropolishing to ensure a perfectly smooth, sterile surface.
Results
•Passed all biocompatibility tests
•Burr-free surfaces verified under microscope
•Cleanroom packaging ensured sterility
•Client made us their exclusive supplier
